The Anatomy of a Balanced Plate

i’m often asked, “how do you decide what to put on the table for family meals…”
.
here’s my answer! i have a formula for what makes a nourishing AND delicious meal and it rarely fails!
.
1. a serving of bioavailable protein! (meaning easily digested and USABLE by the body, this is mainly from meat, seafood, eggs, and dairy!)
.
2. high quality carbs (no refined junk, think roots, fruits, soaked, sprouted, or soured grains, natural sweeteners)
.
3. a little something fresh to brighten the plate (some beautiful seasonal veg is great here)
.
4. a little flavor (think sauces and such)
.
5. always use some nutrient dense fat while cooking (like butter, ghee, tallow, coconut oil, cream, etc)
.
BOOM. delicious, nourishing, and satisfying meal on the table!
